PSA approves North Sea Sigyn life extension

Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend operations at the Sigyn field in the central North Sea to end-December 2032.

OSLO, NorwayEquinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to extend operations at the Sigyn field in the central North Sea to end-December 2032.

The original expiry date was Dec. 31, 2022.

Sigyn is in 70 m (229 ft) water depth, 12 km (7.5 mi) southeast of the Sleipner field. The field was developed with a two-well subsea template tied-back to the Sleipner A platform. Production began in 2002.

In addition, the PSA has authorized Lundin Energy’s request to drill the Melstein prospect in 229 m (751 ft) of water in block 6306/9 in the Norwegian Sea, using the semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger.
