OSLO, Norway – Equinor has secured permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) to extend operations of the subsea system serving the Delta L field in the North Sea.

The field is tied back to the Oseberg field center via two subsea well templates that can accommodate up to eight wells.

The original consent, which also covers pipeline systems and risers to Oseberg, ran to Dec. 31, 2021, but Equinor has now gained an extension through end-December 2034.

Equinor also has the PSA’s approval to use the semisubmersible Deepsea Atlantic for plugging, drilling and completion of wells on the Sigyn and Sleipner fields in the central Norwegian North Sea.

Sigyn produces through a subsea template tied back 12 km (7.5 mi) to Sleipner Øst, in 70 m (230 ft) water depth.

Finally, the PSA has authorized Wintershall Dea to use the semisub Deepsea Aberdeen for production drilling and completion operations on the Vega field, 28 km (17.4 mi) west of the Gjøa platform in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Vega, in 370 m (1,214 ft) of water, began producing in 2010 and has so far been developed with three four-slot subsea templates, connected to the processing facility at Gjøa.
