RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras is postponing a planned 30-day maintenance program in the Santos basin offshore Brazil to Aug. 29.

This is due to an emergency stoppage to repair equipment in the processing plant which receives gas from fields in the Campos basin and the Route 2 pipeline, which transports gas produced in the Santos basin.

The scheduled 30-day stoppage involves maintenance of the Mexilhão platform and the Route 1 gas pipeline, which transports gas produced at Mexilhão and other platforms in the pre-salt and post-salt Santos basin region.

Route 2 needs to operate normally to ensure market supply while Route 1 is shut down.

To maximize gas deliveries, Petrobras is expanding the capacity of the Guanabara Bay re-gas terminal from 20 MMcm/d to 30 MMcm/d, and repositioning the re-gas vessel from the Pecém LNG terminal to the Bahia terminal, with capacity to provide an additional 14 MMcm/d.
