CNOOC starts up Phase 2 Weizhou oil production offshore China

HONG KONG – CNOOC Ltd. has started production from the Weizhou 11-2 oilfield Phase II project in the South China Sea.

The location is in the Beibu Gulf, in 40 m (131 ft) water depth.

Oil is produced via an unmanned wellhead platform connected to existing processing facilities serving the Weizhou 11-2 oilfield.

CNOOC plans seven production and six water injection wells, with peak production of about 6,000 b/d of crude oil in 2022.

The company holds 100% interest.
