HONG KONGCNOOC has produced first oil from the Caofeidian 6-4 field development offshore eastern China.

The new central platform is in the mid-west of Bohai, in an average water depth of around 20 m (65.6 ft), and is connected to processing facilities serving the Nanpu 35-2 and Qinhuangdao 32-6 oilfields.

CNOOC plans to drill 42 development wells comprising 30 producers and 12 water injector and water source wells. Production should peak at around 15,000 b/d of crude in 2023.

In addition, the company is targeting zero discharge of production and sewage into the sea for the project, with onshore power engineering measures leading to annual CO2 reductions of around 40,000 t.
