TEHRAN, Iran – A tanker equipped with single point mooring (SPM) has arrived in Assaluyeh, southern Iran, according to news service Shana.

The vessel will provide extra gas condensate loading capacity of 7,000 sq m/hr (75,347 sq ft/hr) for Pars Oil and Gas Co.’s (POGC) offshore South Pars Phase 19 development.

SPMs are mainly used in areas where a dedicated facility for loading or unloading liquid cargo is not available. They are normally located several kilometers from the shore-based reception facility and are connected to offshore production platforms via subsea pipelines.

In addition, they serve as a link between the shore facilities and the tankers loading or offloading liquid and gas cargo.

POGC expects the South Pars 19 SPM to be fully installed by September. Currently gas/condensate produced from South Pars as a whole is loaded by two SPMs at the Phase 12 center.
