STAVANGER, Norway – Five wells are currently onstream at the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea, which started production on Oct. 5.

Operator Equinor, in its latest results update, expects to put all eight pre-drilled wells into operation by the end of November, raising production capacity well above 300,000 b/d.

The field should reach the Phase 1 plateau next summer.

Equinor added that by the end of 3Q it had completed 32 exploration wells globally this year, with 14 commercial discoveries.
