NPD gives go ahead for North Sea Valhall start-up

Aker BP has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to start up the Valhall West Flank platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, NorwayAker BP has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to start up the Valhall West Flank platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea. Start-up will take place this autumn.

The 12-slot, unmanned facility is connected to the Valhall field center, 290 km (180 mi) offshore.

Aker BP is looking to recover around 60 MMbbl through this project.

The original cost estimate in the development plan was NOK5.4 billion ($591 million).
