LONDON – SOCO International has provided an update on its latest construction programs offshore southern Vietnam.

In Cuu Long basin block 9-2 - CNV field, operated by the HVJOC joint venture, conversion of the water injection pipeline to gas has been completed, with gas lift now available for all wells.

At block 16-1 - TGT field (operated by HLJOC), tendering continues for equipment and services for two firm and two contingent infill wells, which are unlikely to be drilled before late 2019.

The HLJOC has approved a second well to help determine if the HP/HT play continues in the up-dip TGT fault blocks to the north. This well could spud in December.

Detailed feasibility engineering studies have been completed for the TGT compressors and FPSO tie-in agreement, with discussions under way with the FPSO owner.

Upgrade work to the compressors should begin in 4Q and finish during H1 2020. Currently production from a third-party well is being managed to reduce the gas flare and the impact on TGT’s production.

As for SOCO’s newly awarded blocks 125 and 126 off eastern Vietnam, acquisition should finish shortly of a 7,000-km (4,350-mi) 2D survey which started in mid-April.
