KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The PFLNG Satu, Petronas’ first floating LNG facility, has produced first LNG at the Kebabangan cluster field, 90 km (56 mi) offshore Sabah.

First gas from the Kebabangan field was introduced to the PFLNG Satu’s turret system via a 5-km (3-mi) flexible pipeline on May 4. Three days later LNG production began.

Petronas said first LNG cargo delivery is expected in June.

The Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Co. Sdn Bhd-operated Kebabangan field is the second location for the PFLNG Satu. The first was the Kanowit field offshore Sarawak.

Designed to operate in water depths between 70 m and 200 m (230 ft and 656 ft), the FLNG vessel has a processing capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per annum.
