OSLO, Norway --Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has approved a request to maintain pipeline operations at Oseberg through 2015.
The approval relates to the 14-in. (35.6-cm), 14.87-km (3.93-mi) MTS pipeline between the Oseberg B and C installations. When operator Norsk Hydro installed the line in 1990, it had an originally designed service life of 10 years.
Following a recent evaluation, Hydro and DNV have concluded that the pipeline's integrity has been maintained sufficiently to warrant a further eight years in service.
