LONDON — Harbour Energy, operator of the proposed Humber-based Viking Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) CO2 transportation and storage network in eastern England, says the UK’s Planning Inspectorate will assess its application to construct the project’s 55-km onshore pipeline.
This will transport CO2 captured from the Immingham industrial area to the former Theddlethorpe gas terminal site on the Lincolnshire coast. From there, the CO2 will head 140 km to the depleted Viking gas fields, 2.7 km beneath the seabed, for permanent storage.
The Inspectorate’s reception of the application represents the next stage in the process to acquiring a development consent order for the pipeline, following a program of consultations and engagement with relevant parties.
