MAROUSSI, Greece  Saipem has contracted Corinth Pipeworks to provide the pipes for a new 28-km long gas pipeline offshore Greece.

This will connect Gastrade’s Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) to Greece’s National Natural Gas Transmission System, in turn transporting the gasified LNG to markets in northeastern Europe and potentially Ukraine.

Corinth claims its proposal was seen as the optimum technical and economically feasible solution. The company will supply 28 km of 30-in SAWL steel pipes, with anti-corrosion coating and concrete weight coating, all manufactured and externally coated at its plant in Thisvi, Viotia, Greece.

Deliveries should begin in 2023.
