ZUG, Switzerland – Nord Stream AG has completed the gas-in procedure for the first string of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The system takes gas from fields onshore northern Russia westward through the Baltic Sea to northern Germany.

In line with the system design requirements, the string is filled with around 177 MMcm of technical gas, reaching a pressure of 103 bar (1,494 psi) in the pipeline. This pressure is sufficient to start gas transportation.
