HOUSTON, Mar. 20 -- Norsk Hydro AS awarded Stolt Rockwater -- a joint venture of a unit of Halliburton Co. and Stolt Offshore Ltd. -- a $22 million contract to perform subsea tie-in work for the Vesterled pipeline project.
Last year, Norsk Hydro chose European Marine Contractors (EMC) Ltd. for the $8.7 million contract to build and install the 32-in. Vesterled pipeline, which will link together the Norwegian gas network and the Frigg Norwegian Association (FNA) pipeline in the Norwegian North Sea. (OGJ Online, Oct. 18, 2000). The line will be installed this year. The Vesterled pipeline will connect the existing Heimdal and Frigg FNA lines.
The Stolt Offshore contract includes all subsea tie-ins.
The offshore work will be carried out in July and August. Halliburton's diving support vessel Toisa Polaris will be the prime construction vessel for the work, said Stolt Rockwater partner Halliburton Subsea.
The order also includes an option for further construction work around the Heimdal platform in 2002-03.
The award to Stolt Rockwater is covered by the existing frame agreement for hyperbaric welding and diving services contingency that was signed with Statoil AS, Norsk Hydro, and Esso, an affiliate of ExxonMobil Corp., last year.
