HOUSTON –Work is under way to return offshore US Gulf of Mexico oil and gas operations to normal following Tropical Storm Karen’s weakening. The storm faded almost as soon as operators began to evacuate installations.

Workers were returning as early as Sunday, and the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port expected to be in operation at that time, too.

Companies returning personnel to offshore installations include Marathon Oil, Chevron, and BP, said Reuters. Additional companies are expected to follow suit in light of the new weather report.
