GoM storm gets attention of operators

HOUSTON –Tropical storm Erin appears to be about to enter the Gulf of Mexico and has the attention of offshore operators.

Currently over the Yucatan, the US National Hurricane Center said the storm could turn into a hurricane as it moves over the GoM.

Two operators have started moving personnel to shore, reports Dow Jones. Marathon is moving off its Ewing Bank platform and BP is evacuating some personnel off its four deepwater production platforms and is releasing drilling rigs under contract to suspend work.
