Woodside contracts Atwood to drill off Australia

Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded Atwood Oceanics Inc. a contract to drill two wells, plus awarded Atwood options for up to three additional wells, using the Atwood Falcon semisubmersible, off the northwest coast of Australia.

Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded Atwood Oceanics Inc. a contract to drill two wells, plus awarded Atwood options for up to three additional wells, using theAtwood Falcon semisubmersible, off the northwest coast of Australia. The Atwood Falcon is currently drilling a five-well program for Sarawak Shell Berhad and Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. off the coast of Malaysia. Once the contract ends, estimated for October, the rig will be moved to Australia to begin the program for Woodside. Dayrates range from $89,100 to $108,600, depending on the water depth. Mobilization and demobilization payments range from $1 million to $1.25 million, depending on the number of wells drilled.
