Shearwater Geoservices and SLB have launched the Amapá 3D multi-client seismic survey to expand seismic coverage across northern Brazil's underexplored Equatorial Margin.
The survey area offshore Amapá lies about 130 km from Petrobras' recently confirmed Morpho discovery, one of the latest exploration successes in Brazil's Equatorial Margin.
The campaign is intended to improve subsurface imaging across the region as operators evaluate its broader exploration potential.
Brazil's Equatorial Margin has attracted growing industry attention in recent years because of its geological similarities to major offshore discoveries made farther north along the Atlantic Margin in Guyana, Suriname and Namibia. While exploration activity remains at an earlier stage, oil companies view the region as one of the country's most promising frontier areas.
The partnership plans to acquire high-density broadband data using Shearwater's Isometrix marine seismic technology, a system designed to improve subsurface illumination and data quality in complex geological settings, deployed from the Amazon Warrior vessel.
The survey will employ high-density broadband acquisition and advanced imaging technologies designed to deliver improved resolution of complex subsurface structures, helping explorers better identify reservoir targets and reduce exploration risk.

The data package is expected to support future licensing rounds, prospect evaluation and exploration planning as international operators and investors continue assessing opportunities across the Equatorial Margin.
SLB will process and image the dataset using advanced workflows, including elastic full-waveform inversion. The resulting data are expected to help operators refine prospect evaluations and support future exploration and licensing activity across the Equatorial Margin.
