Dolphin starts 3D seismic survey offshore Senegal

Dolphin Geophysical commenced a 7,000-sq km (2,703-sq mi) SHarp Broadband 3D seismic survey offshore Senegal for Kosmos Energy.

OSLO, Norway – Dolphin Geophysical commenced a 7,000-sq km (2,703-sq mi) SHarp Broadband 3D seismic survey offshore Senegal for Kosmos Energy.

The company’s high-capacity 3D vessel,Polar Duchess, is performing the survey, which is expected to take four months to complete.

Dolphin’s OpenCPS software will be used both onboard the vessel to produce a PostSTM fasttrack dataset and then for the final PSTM volume at its UK Processing Center.

Dolphin CEO Atle Jacobsen said: "We are very pleased to have been awarded this large SHarp 3D acquisition and processing contract from Kosmos Energy, one of the leading acreage holders in northwest Africa. This is our first seismic project for Kosmos and Dolphin’s fifth survey in Senegal.”
