LONDON – Norwegian contractor Global Geo Services (GGS) and data management/solutions specialist Interica Ltd. UK have formed GGS-Interica Ltd. UK.
The joint venture will manage and license thePersian Carpet 2000 dataset that GGS acquired during 1999-2005. This comprises 116,000 km (72,079 mi) of multi-client 2D data, 120 wells and 30,000 km (18,641 mi) of gravity data, all interpreted and available in Kingdom or Petrel workstation formats.
It is said to be the sole current MC2D and Pseudo MC3D dataset covering the entire IranianPersian Gulfoffshore and Iranian part of the Oman Sea.
Both GGS and GGS-Interica will market it to companies interested in Iran’s new bidding process, which is due to be unveiled early next year.
To ensure a full scale re-processing of the PC 2000 data and development of new related products, GGS-Interica has secured a non-transferable PC 2000 license.
The joint venture company has selected various representative lines for a trial reprocessing in preparation for any offshore Iran bidding.
Early results, using the latest Demultiple and broadband processing algorithms, are said to show a great improvement in the data which should assist interpretation, AVO analysis, or seismic inversions.
Over the next few weeks GGS-Interica will choose a contractor to perform reprocessing of the entire dataset which, at the time of acquisition was said to be the largest 2D dataset worldwide.
