OSLO, NorwayFugro has prepared a report that provides guidelines for site-specific geotechnical analyses for jackup facilities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil), formerly known as the Petroleum Safety Authority.

The scope of the analyses for each project will depend on local conditions. According to Havtil, a robust rig, small loads and good ground conditions could require only relatively straightforward geotechnical assessments.

But in deep water, or cases involving large loads or demanding seabed conditions, more advanced analyses would be needed and perhaps more extensive site investigations and laboratory tests.

This report provides recommendations for these and the establishment of geotechnical parameters to include in the site-specific geotechnical analyses.

It has been prepared for three-legged jackup facilities for locations offshore Norway.
