LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands – Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency has awarded Fugro work for a further offshore geophysical survey.

The award follows previous surveys conducted in 2020 and 2021 in cooperation with Fraunhofer IWES to form the basis for geological models of planned offshore wind farm sites to be auctioned over the next few years.

Fugro is due to start work on the latest survey next April, performing positioning and sub-bottom profiling recording and interpretation, while Fraunhofer IWES focuses on the seismic survey and interpretation.

Under a separate contract Fugro will also provide geotechnical data to the German government which will be integrated with the geophysical data, in relation to future offshore renewable energy development in the German Bight.
