HOUSTONHalliburton Co. and TGS-NOPEC Geophysical plan to collaborate to combine advanced seismic imaging with fiber optic sensing.

The alliance will offer operators insight to determine their reservoirs’ potential for oil and gas production or carbon storage.

Halliburton’s FiberVSP and Odassea distributed acoustic sensing solutions will now incorporate TGS’s seismic imaging workflows, which process the full seismic wavefield to generate high-resolution reservoir images.

Trey Clark, vice president of Wireline and Perforating at Halliburton, said the collaboration will “enable real-time monitoring of production across an entire field, allowing our customers to make better decisions and increase ultimate recovery.”

Jan Schoolmeesters, executive vice president of TGS Operations and New Energy Solutions, added: “This solution enables enhanced reservoir understanding for our customers with a lower total cost of ownership relative to conventional 4D seismic.”

Work has started on delivering the combined solution for multiple offshore and onshore reservoir monitoring projects.
