HOUSTONHalliburton Co. and TechnipFMC have developed Odassea, which they claim is the first distributed acoustic sensing solution for subsea wells.

It is said to allow operators to conduct intervention-less seismic imaging and reservoir diagnostics to reduce costs, while at the same time improving reservoir understanding.

The Odassea service integrates hardware and digital systems to provide digital capabilities in subsea reservoir monitoring and production optimization.

Halliburton is supplying the fiber optic sensing technology, completions and analysis for reservoir diagnostics, while TechnipFMC provides the optical connectivity from the topsides to the completions.

Through this collaboration, they claim, operators can speed up their full-field subsea fiber optic sensing, design, and execution.

Trey Clark, vice president of Halliburton Wireline and Perforating, said the service “allows our customers to monitor reservoir performance in real-time.”

The partners are already delivering solutions featuring the technology to multiple subsea projects at all stages, from conceptual design through execution and installation.
