LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands – Eni has contracted Fugro to perform geotechnical and environmental surveys offshore Angola between now and May.

The Fugro Scout has started a deepwater environmental survey to acquire, analyse, and interpret sediment and water samples related to Eni’s Agogo field development.

During the campaign, marine fauna observers will monitor marine mammals, turtles and seabirds in the area. The study will also compile environmental baseline data on benthic communities, physicochemical sediment characteristics, and water column productivity.

Resulting geo-data will characterize the site stratigraphy for Eni and define the mechanical and physical properties of the soil for the subsea facilities. In addition, the Fugro Scout will conduct geotechnical site investigations.

A second vessel, Fugro Helmert, will perform a route overview in nearshore areas, including environmental, geotechnical and geophysical surveys, to help Eni Angola determine the optimum installation route and optimize cable burial protection for the New Gas Consortium.
