SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has upped its estimate of oil in place at the Agogo field offshore Angola by 40% to around 1 Bbbl.

This follows drilling of the Agogo-3 appraisal well in block 15/06. Eni plans to test further upside in the northern part of the field, which is 180 km (112 mi) offshore and 23 km (14.3 mi) from the N’Goma FPSO at the block’s West Hub.

The drillship Libongos drilled the latest well in a water depth of 1,700 m (5,577 ft) and to a total MD of 4,321 m (14,176 ft).

It intersected 120 m (393 ft) of net pay of 31°API oil in Miocene/Oligocene sandstones; the data confirmed communication with Agogo-2 reservoirs 1.5 km (0.9 mi) to the southeast and a northern extension of the Agogo-1 discovery.

Agogo 3 was deviated to access sequences below a thick blanket of salt, using Eni’s proprietary seismic imaging technologies, and confirmed an oil-charged and connected reservoir in this subsalt sector.

The data also indicates a production capacity of more than 15,000 b/d of oil.

Agogo came onstream in January via a subsea tieback to N’Goma FPSO, and the partners are now working on a third production hub for the block, targeting an investment decision in 2021.
