VLISSINGEN, the Netherlands– South Atlantic Holding B.V. has awarded the procurement and construction contract for the Peregrino II jacket to Heerema Fabrication Group.
The jacket will be about 135 m (443 ft) tall, have a footprint of 66 x 53 m (217 x 179 ft), and will weigh 9,300 metric tons (excluding the 12 piles). ThePeregrino field - discovered in 1994 - is a heavy-oil field in the south and southwest section of the Campos basin about 85 km (53 mi) offshore Brazil. Statoil is the operator of the field development, which includes two wellhead platforms and an FPSO. A system of pipelines, risers, and cables connects this FPSO and the two wellhead platforms.
The Peregrino Phase II field development will add a third wellhead platform, as this area is not accessible by the existing two platforms. It will contain an eight-legged jacket and awellhead platform with a drilling unit (WHP-C) tied-back to the existing FPSO.
A total of 21 wells – 15 oil producers and six water injectors – are planned to be drilled from the WHP-C installed in 120 m (394 ft) water depth.
Production is expected to start by the end of 2020 and add 250 MMboe.
