PERTH, Western Australia -- The Browse LNG development off northwest Australia has entered the Basis of Design phase, says Woodside Petroleum.

This phase is to determine the main design parameters to optimize development of the offshore gas fields and onshore facilities south of James Price Point.

WorleyParsons Services Pty and Granherne Pty have jointly been awarded the contract for the offshore facilities scope, with JP Kenny Pty contracted for the subsea and pipelines scope.

Following completion of the Basis of Design program, front-end engineering and design is to start in 2011 to allow a final investment decision to be taken in 2012.
