INVERURIE, UK-- Ferguson Modular has won a $7.26-million contract to build an accommodation block for a project in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.

Under the terms of the award from Saipem subsidiary NCSC in Kazakhstan, Ferguson Modular will provide a complete accommodation complex for up to 108 persons, including galley, mess, medical, store, freezer, and laundry facilities.

The four-story block is for the dredging barge Castoro 16 at Kuryk, Kazakhstan, this spring. The barge is then due to perform trenching activities in shallow water in the North Caspian.

The accommodation modules are designed to DNV 2.7-1 / EN 12079 certification, incorporating the latest HSE standards (Ferguson Modular holds BS EN ISO 9001:2008, BS EN ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications). All the modules are manufactured in-house.

Gary Wilson, director of business development for Ferguson Modular, says: “The modular design of our accommodation complex, and our previous experience in providing complexes of this size, meant that we were able to respond very quickly with a highly cost effective solution to meet the eight to 10 week delivery schedule required by our client.”
