Vallourec to supply line pipe for Mero 1 offshore Brazil

TechnipFMC has contracted Vallourec Soluçoes Tubulares do Brasil to supply about 12,000 tons of seamless steel rigid line pipe for the Mero 1 project in the presalt Santos basin.

BELO HORIZONTE, BrazilTechnipFMC has contracted Vallourec Soluçoes Tubulares do Brasil to supply about 12,000 tons of seamless steel rigid line pipe for the Mero 1 project in the presalt Santos basin.

The pipe, with outside diameters of 8 in. and 10 in., will be used in the fabrication of the riser and flowline system for interconnecting 13 wells (six production wells and seven water alternate gas injection wells) to theFPSOGuanabara MV31.

The Mero field, located in the northwestern area of the Libra block, is about 180 km (112 mi) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Water depth is 2,100 m (6,890 ft).

The pipe supply is expected to start at the end of the year.

The Libra Consortium consists of Petrobras (operator, 40%), Shell Brasil (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%), CNOOC Ltd. (10%), and state-owned Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A., as manager of the production-sharing contract.
