LAGOS, Nigeria -- Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC) has selected Oando as a strategic partner to develop gas from the Jubilee field, offshore Ghana. The field contains proven reserves in excess of 300 MMbbl of recoverable oil and a potential for 1.8 Bbbl, GNPC says.
The project scope includes development of a processing facility, offshore and onshore high pressure gas transmission pipelines, liquefied petroleum gas and condensate storage tanks, as well as other ancillary structures.
The Ghanaian government intends to develop infrastructure that will process natural gas at the existing Effasu and Takoradi plants in Ghana. Natural gas and derivatives will be sold to domestic and international markets.
In order to eliminate gas flaring from the field, the project’s completion will coincide with the first oil. This will form a model for the development of future oil and gas fields in the country, according to Oando.
