OSLO -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved ConocoPhillips Skandinavia’s request to remove two sets of facilities from the Ekofisk complex.

Compressor facilities 37/4-A and 36/22-A (oil boosters) are on the UK side of the North Sea median line, and therefore under joint jurisdiction between Britain and Norway under the terms of the Ekofisk-Teesside agreement.

The dismantled structures will be shipped to Norway and transported to Vats in Vindafjord in the Rogaland district for final disposal.

PSA has also cleared ConocoPhillips to deploy the mobile drilling rig Maersk Gallant on Ekofisk. The consent relates to use of the rig’s helideck and living quarters for a program of repairs following a collision between the Big Orange XVIII vessel and the Ekofisk2/4 W platform on June 8.

This caused damage to the bridge and well equipment. The rig will be based to the east of the 2/4-M platform.
