ABERDEEN, UK – BP has awarded RDS a design contract for the Clair Ridge drilling facilities west of The Shetland Isles.
The development will feature at least 28 wells, BP says. A subsea template for pre-drilled wells will be tied back to the platform; remaining wells will be drilled directly from the platform.
Phase 1 of the field’s development included the installation of an export pipeline system. The Clair Phase 1 platform was installed in 2004 and achieved first oil in early 2005.
The next phase of the development, Clair Ridge is targeting part of the field to the north of Clair Phase 1.
