CALGARY, Canada – Husky Energy (Toronto:HSE) says construction of the Liwan gas project facilities in the South China Sea is roughly 75% complete.
The central platform jacket has been launched and secured to the seabed in readiness for installation of the topsides next spring. The mono-ethylene glycol recovery unit, a key component of the central platform, is near completion.
About half of the two 79-km (49-mi) long subsea pipelines have been laid from the gas field to the central platform in the deepwater area. Liwan remains on schedule for start-up in late 2013/early 2014.
Negotiations continue on a gas sales agreement for the Liuhua 34-2 field, Husky adds. Front-end engineering design is finished on the Liuhua 29-1 gas field and an overall development plan for the field is in preparation.
Husky expects to deliver first gas from Indonesia’s offshore Madura Strait block in 2014/2015. Work continues on an exploration drilling program.
Offshore eastern Canada, the company has ramped up production at the White Rose field following the mid-August re-commissioning of the SeaRoseFPSO. It has also brought online a new infill well to boost recovery from the field.
The planned offstation program for the Terra Nova field FPSO, which began on June 8, should be concluded soon, to be followed by a gradual resumption of production.
As for the North Amethyst project, development drilling continues and a new production well should start flowing before year-end.
A new subsea drill center has been excavated in preparation for future development of the South White Rose satellite field. Husky is evaluating options for the West White Rose satellite development, which includes a fixed wellhead platform that would exploit existing FPSO facilities for processing and storage.
Finally, the company has spudded an exploration well on the Searcher prospectoffshore Newfoundland in the southern Jeanne d’Arc basin. It will also participate in the Harpoon exploration well, close to the Mizzen discovery in the Flemish Pass basin.
