CALGARY, Canada – Husky Energy (Toronto:HSE) says the Liwan gas development in the South China Sea is progressing as planned in the run-up to first production in late 2013/early 2014.

Construction of the shallow-water platform jacket has been completed. The topsides portion should undergo float-over during 2Q 2013.

All nine subsea production trees have been completed for the wells at the Liwan 3-1 gas field. Six associated upper completions were installed and flow tested, with production rates as expected.

Front-end engineering and design work is under way for development of the Liuhua 29-1 gas field. Negotiations continue on a sales agreement for gas from the Liuhua 34-2 field.

Offshore Indonesia, Husky says drilling has started on a six-plus well exploration program in theMadura Strait block. The partners have submitted a joint development plan for the MDA and MBH fields to Indonesia’s government. Later this year, development contracts should be awarded for the BD field, including a leased FPSO. The aim is to fully delineate and develop the Madura Strait block with first gas production in 2014.
