ABERDEEN, UKSubsea 7 has installed the gas export/import pipeline for Dana Petroleum’s Western Isles development in the UK northern North Sea.

Seven Navica laid the 11-km (6.8-mi), 6-in.pipeline, which was fabricated and inspected at Subsea 7’s spoolbase in Leith, near Edinburgh. It will export excess produced gas to the Tern - North Cormorant gas pipeline and import lift gas and fuel when required.

Western Isles takes in the Harris and Barra oil fields, 160 km (99.4 mi) east of Shetland and 12 km (7.45 mi) west of the TAQA-operated Tern field. It involves a subsea development of at least five production and four water injection wells tied back to a newFPSO, with oil exported via shuttle tankers.
