HOOFDDORP, the Netherlands – Bluewater Energy Services has contracted FES International to upgrade equipment on the Pierce field FPSO in the UK central North Sea.

FES’ seawater uptake system (SUS) will be installed on theHaewene Brim, which is leased to Shell Expro to produce and offload fluids from the Pierce field and will also receive production from Lundin’s Brynhild development in the Norwegian sector.

The new system will replace the hose FES first supplied for Bluewater in 2004, and the work scope includes refurbishment of the main interface equipment.

The SUS ensures a continuous supply of cooling seawater to the FPSO process system, from a water depth which minimizes temperature variations and uptake of marine life.
