Dockwise vessels to transport Johan Sverdrup structures

Samsung Heavy Industries has contracted Royal Boskalis Westminster to transport structures for the Johan Sverdrup field in the central Norwegian North Sea in three voyages.

PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands – Samsung Heavy Industries has contracted Royal Boskalis Westminster to transport structures for the Johan Sverdrup field in the central Norwegian North Sea in three voyages.

During the first half of 2018, a Dockwise type I heavy transport vessel will carry two of the riser platform modules with a combined weight of more than 20,000 metric tons (22,046 tons). A Dockwise type II vessel will take the third 6,000-metric ton (6,614-ton) module, all from Geoje, South Korea to the project siteoffshore Norway.

Dockwise Vanguard will transport the topsides of the processing platform from South Korea during the first half of 2019. Following its arrival in Norway, the cargo will be offloaded in a fjord near Stavanger.

Johan Sverdrup is 150 km (93 mi) offshore Stavanger.
