BANGKOK, Thailand – PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. (PTTEP) will advance Myanmar’s Integrated Domestic Gas to Power project after securing an exclusive development right from the government.

The project will promote use of domestic gas supplied from PTTEP’s gas fields in the Gulf of Moattama, starting with the Zawtika and Myanmar M3 projects, to deliver affordable electricity to Myanmar, with the government aiming to provide access to electricity to all households by 2030.

PTTEP estimates the cost at around $2 billion including upstream development, new 370-km offshore/onshore gas pipeline system running from Kanbauk – Daw Nyein – Kyaiklat, and a 600-MW combined cycle power plant located in Kyaiklat in the Ayeyarwady region.

The company will take a final investment decision in early 2022.
