LONDON – Independent Oil & Gas (IOG) has provided a progress update on its Core Project gas hub development in the UK southern North Sea.

Fabrication of the Phase 1 Southwark and Blythe platforms at HSM’s yard in Schiedam, the Netherlands, should reach mechanical completion later in the current quarter.

Construction of the two jackets is proceeding alongside installation and testing of topsides equipment such as risers, helidecks, controls, communications and integrity management systems.

Transport and installation of the platforms at the field locations should follow this spring, in coordination with drilling operations. Detailed well design should finish in the current quarter followed by spudding of the first development by early 2Q.

Contracting of drilling services and logistics continues, in parallel with permit applications and risk assessments.

Late last year, Subsea 7 installed the Phase 1 Blythe 12-in. and Elgood 6-in. pipelines.

In November, IOG completed all planned tie-ins to the Perenco LAPS facilities during a regular maintenance shutdown of the Bacton gas terminal.
