Woodside targets 2021 for Scarborough gas project decision

Woodside Energy is targeting a final investment decision for the Scarborough gas field development offshore Western Australia during the second half of next year, the company revealed in its latest results statement.

PERTH, Australia – Woodside Energy is targeting a final investment decision for the Scarborough gas field development offshore Western Australia during the second half of next year, the company revealed in its latest results statement.

The company has received acceptance of its project proposal from regulatory authorities and is currently working on associated environmental impact plans. In addition, it has agreed to a 2020 work plan with engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.

Elsewhere in this region, development drilling continues for Woodside’s Pyxis gas hub, with the project 34% complete by mid-year. Subsea installations should start in 2021.

Development drilling for Julimar-Brunello Phase 2 too is progressing, with drilling activities due to be completed in the current quarter.

Offshore Senegal, Woodside expects the 23-well development drilling campaign for the Sangomar field development Phase 1 to begin in mid-2021. 

However, planned exploration drilling off Myanmar has had to be revised due to COVID-19 restrictions.
