Petrofac, Isker secure Kashagan water treatment contract

North Caspian Operating Co. has awarded a $135-million engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning contract for new water treatment facilities in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

LONDON – North Caspian Operating Co. (NCOC) has awarded a $135-million engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning (EPCC) contract for new water treatment facilities in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

The joint venture between Petrofac’s Engineering & Production Services division and Kazakh company Isker will perform the work for the 30-month project.

This will include an inlet stream screening to remove debris; feed water tanks with oil skimmer and pumps; a clarifier system including flocculation, coagulation and oil skimmer; treated wastewater storage and pumps; and sludge treatment and relative utilities.

NCOC operates the ultra-shallow water North Caspian Project in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.

Oil production started from the Kashagan field in 2016 and is currently 380,000 b/d.
