OSLO, Norway – Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jackup vessel Blue Tern has completed a decommissioning campaign for Perenco UK at the Tyne and Guinevere gas fields in the UK southern North Sea.

Offshore work, which started last month, involved lifting the two topsides and jackets onto the Blue Tern deck, and associated cutting, rigging and seafastening.

The vessel sailed in to the Hoondert disposal facility in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, early last week, and the platform structures have since been offloaded to undergo disposal and recycling.

Ardent was responsible for planning and engineering of the cutting, lifting, seafastening and offloading works, while Fred. Olsen Windcarrier had overall project management responsibility.

This was the latter’s first oil and gas decommissioning job.
