Viridien launches large-scale Guyana 3D seismic reimaging project

Phase 1 will reprocess more than 10,000 sq km of legacy seismic data across offshore Guyana, with early results expected in early 2027.

Key highlights:

  • The reimaging project covers more than 10,000 sq km of legacy 3D seismic data.

  • The combined dataset will span over 14,000 sq km offshore Guyana.

  • Early reprocessed data is expected in first-quarter 2027.

Viridien has started Phase 1 of a regional 3D seismic reimaging project offshore Guyana, covering more than 10,000 sq km of existing seismic data across the Kaieteur, Canje, Kanuku and Corentyne blocks.

The company said the project will apply its advanced imaging technologies to improve subsurface interpretation across the Stabroek area and neighboring shallow-water acreage.

The effort will be integrated with new 3D seismic data to create a regional dataset spanning more than 14,000 sq km.

Early results are expected in the first quarter of 2027.

The surveys cover acreage within the Guyana-Suriname Basin, which hosts more than 11 Bboe of discovered recoverable resources and includes ExxonMobil-led developments on the Stabroek Block.
