bp lines up five-well campaign offshore Egypt
bp has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egyptian government officials concerning a potential five-well program in the Mediterranean Sea.
This is intended to support development and production of gas resources in water depths ranging from 300 m to 1,500 m, using existing production facilities in the West Nile Delta.
Drilling operations are set to begin next year, followed by assessment of possible tieback options.
The MoU followed a visit to bp’s headquarters in London by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Geo. Samir Raslan, Undersecretary for Exploration and Agreements at the Ministry.
bp plans to increase production in Egypt to 2.3 MMboe/d to 2.5 MMboe/d by 2030 with the capacity to further raise production out to 2035.
Earlier this year, the company discovered gas with the Fayoum-5 and El King-2 exploration wells, both part of the West Nile Delta development.
