LONDONIndependent Oil and Gas (IOG) has completed interpretation and mapping of reprocessed 3D seismic over the Harvey gas prospect in the UK southern North Sea.

Schlumberger WesternGeco had started the reprocessing project in March.

IOG now has a pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) 3D seismic volume which it has used to optimize the location for a planned appraisal well.

The well will fulfill a 27th Round license commitment and confirm whether well 48/23-2 drilled by Arco in 1984 discovered gas.

New mapping shows that the well intersected the flank of the Harvey structure in each of the low case, mid case, and high case scenarios.

IOG aims to spud the Harvey appraisal well next January with a view to testing and proving upside gas resource estimates.
Safety and environmental site surveys are due to be performed in early October.

Fraser Well Management will manage and operate the well, subject to regulatory approvals, with selection of the drilling rig contractor and well services contracts to be finalized soon afterward.
