Statoil to drill new production well at Vigdis in the North Sea

Statoil has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for a new drilling program at the producing Vigdis field in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for a new drilling program at the producing Vigdis oil field in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleBideford Dolphin will plug the B-1 AH production well, and drill a side track from this location for a new producer, B-1 BH.

Vigdis is an oil field in block 34/7 in the Tampen region in 280 m (918 ft) of water, developed using subsea facilities. Its wellstream is piped to the Snorre A platform for processing. 

Previous operator Saga Petroleum initiated production in 1997, with Statoil assuming operatorship in 2003.
