US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count holds steady at 22

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count was unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 22.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count was unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 22, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Oct. 6, 2017. That number is the same as it was at this time last year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, also holding steady at 22. That number is down one year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by four to 936, with oil rigs down by two to 748, gas rigs down by two to 187, and miscellaneous rigs holding steady at one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 412, with oil rigs up by 320, gas rigs up by 93, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.
