Lundin lines up well/test on Alvaldsnes

Lundin Norway plans to drill an exploration well in production license 501 in the Norwegian North Sea, following approval from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

OSLO, Norway -- Lundin Norway plans to drill an exploration well in production license 501 in the Norwegian North Sea, following approval from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

The semisub Transocean Winner will drill well 16/2-6 on the Avaldsnes prospect, 200 km (124 mi) offshore Stavanger. The location is northwest of the Sleipner field and south of the Balder and Grane fields.

Water depth is 115 m (377 ft).

Drilling should start at the end of June, and should last 38 days, or 53 days if there is a need for a production test.

Lundin has a 40% operated interest in the license, in partnership with Statoil (40%) and Mærsk (20%).
